Uber New Zealand has partnered with local EV providers Mevo and GVI to make electric vehicle access more affordable for drivers and delivery people using the platform. Through Mevo, Uber drivers can rent EVs on a weekly basis at discounted rates, while GVI offers flexible financing options for purchasing high-quality used EVs such as the Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model 3. These initiatives aim to reduce barriers to EV adoption, helping Uber move toward its goal of 100 percent electric rides by 2040.

The partnership with Mevo provides flexible, commitment-free rentals starting at $230 per week, including mileage allowances, while GVI’s financing options include $0 deposit, competitive loan terms, and battery warranties. Uber’s Managing Director for Australia & New Zealand, Emma Foley, emphasized that reducing upfront costs is key to increasing EV adoption. Industry leaders, such as Drive Electric’s Kirsten Corson, praised Uber’s continued commitment to sustainability, particularly as public and private investments in electrification slow down.
