Harmeen Mehta Joins Equinix as Chief Digital and Innovation Officer

Equinix has appointed Harmeen Mehta as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer (CDIO), effective April 4. Mehta, an industry-recognized leader in digital transformation and AI-driven innovation, brings 28 years of experience from companies including BT Group and Bharti Airtel.

In this new role, Mehta will lead Equinix’s digital transformation efforts, focusing on leveraging emerging technologies to enhance customer and employee experiences, improve operational efficiency, and enable innovative business models. She will report directly to CEO and President Adaire Fox-Martin.

Mehta previously led digital transformation at BT and served as Global CIO and CEO of Cloud and Security at Bharti Airtel. She also held leadership positions at BBVA, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and HSBC. Her board positions include Lloyds Banking Group and TM Forum.

NVIDIA has unveiled the DGX SuperPOD with Blackwell Ultra GPUs, delivering enterprise AI supercomputing for advanced AI reasoning. The new DGX GB300 and DGX B300 systems offer faster AI performance, enabling companies to build AI factories for generative and agentic AI workloads.

Equinix will be the first to provide NVIDIA Instant AI Factory, a managed service featuring these AI-ready systems in preconfigured data centers worldwide. Equinix has issued its first green bonds in Singapore, raising SGD 500 million to support its sustainability initiatives. This marks the first time a U.S. corporate has accessed the Singapore dollar bond market in over five years. The proceeds from these bonds will be allocated to finance or refinance eligible green projects, such as energy-efficient infrastructure, renewable energy adoption, and resource conservation efforts.

Equinix’s commitment to sustainability aligns with Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and National AI Strategy. The company continues to integrate eco-friendly innovations into its data centers, including its SG5 facility, which features a low power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32 and utilizes reclaimed water for cooling.

DBS Bank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, and OCBC played key roles in the bond issuance, with DBS serving as the sole Green Bond Structuring Agent. Equinix has now issued approximately $7.3 billion in green bonds globally, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable digital infrastructure.
