T-Mobile has announced that it will power Major League Baseball’s automated ball-strike system (ABS) with its private 5G network during spring training games at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. This marks the first time the ABS system will be tested at the major league level, following trials in select minor league games. The system uses high-speed Hawk-Eye cameras to triangulate the strike zone, and T-Mobile’s 5G network transmits pitch data in real time for verification.

Additionally, T-Mobile is bringing back free MLB.TV for its customers for the 10th consecutive season. Eligible customers can redeem a free MLB.TV subscription from March 25 to March 31 through T-Mobile Tuesdays in the T-Life app. The service provides access to live and on-demand out-of-market regular season games.

T-Mobile has also expanded its 5G network across 27 MLB stadiums and plans to deploy it in all U.S. ballparks by the end of 2025.
