Apple has announced a new immersive concert experience featuring Metallica, launching on March 14 for Apple Vision Pro. Filmed in Mexico City during the finale of the band's M72 World Tour, the experience includes performances of "Whiplash," "One," and "Enter Sandman," captured exclusively in Apple Immersive Video. This format provides ultra-high-resolution 180-degree video and Spatial Audio, offering viewers a unique perspective from both the stage and the audience.

Customers can preview the experience at Apple Store locations by booking an Apple Vision Pro demo. Alongside the concert, Apple Music will release a new EP, "M72 World Tour: Mexico City," in Spatial Audio.

Lars Ulrich of Metallica praised the technology, calling it "game-changing" and a new way to connect with fans. Apple Vice President Tor Myhren highlighted how Apple Immersive Video transforms storytelling, providing an experience that feels like being front row, backstage, or on stage with the band.

Apple used 14 specially designed cameras to capture the concert from multiple angles, ensuring a fully immersive viewing experience. Lars Ulrich also discussed the project with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe at SXSW 2025, where they explored the band's commitment to innovation and fan engagement.

Apple Immersive Video also features other exclusive content, including new episodes of the Adventure and Boundless series, a sports documentary titled "VIP: Yankee Stadium," and the first feature-length immersive film, "Bono: Stories of Surrender," debuting on May 30.

Apple Vision Pro is available in multiple countries, and customers can book a free demo at Apple Store locations where the device is sold. Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.
