Apple Surpasses 60% Emissions Reduction on Path to 2030 Carbon Neutrality
Apple announced that it has cut global greenhouse gas emissions by over 60% since 2015, advancing toward its Apple 2030 goal of carbon neutrality across its operations and supply chain. Key achievements include using 99% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 99% recycled cobalt in all Apple-designed batteries.
In 2024, Apple and its suppliers avoided 41 million metric tons of CO₂ emissions, with 17.8 gigawatts of renewable energy now powering its supply chain. Twenty-six semiconductor suppliers and all display suppliers have pledged to cut F-GHGs by 90% by 2030.
The company also redirected 600,000 metric tons of waste from landfills last year and reached 55% recycled content in the new MacBook Air, its highest ever. Since 2013, Apple and suppliers have saved over 90 billion gallons of fresh water through efficiency and reuse programs.
To mark Earth Day, Apple is offering 10% off accessories with eligible device recycling through May 16, and a limited-edition Apple Watch award for completing a 30-minute workout on April 22.
