Sweetgreen COO Rossann Williams Exits Role, Moves into Consultant Position


Sweetgreen, Inc. announced that Rossann Williams has stepped down from her role as Chief Operating Officer, with her departure taking effect immediately. Following her exit from the executive team, Williams has transitioned into a consulting position and will continue advising the company until June 1.

The decision was reached by mutual agreement between the company and Williams. No replacement or interim COO has been announced. Sweetgreen noted that the former executive’s expertise will still be leveraged during this short-term advisory period.

Williams initially joined Sweetgreen to help strengthen operational efficiency and scale the brand’s growing footprint across the United States. Her continued support in a consulting capacity suggests a collaborative transition as the company prepares for its next phase of operational leadership.

In a letter addressed to the Sweetgreen community, CEO Jonathan Neman announced that longtime board members Youngme Moon and Valerie Jarrett will not stand for re-election at the end of their terms in June.

Both Moon and Jarrett have played key roles since Sweetgreen's private company days, providing strategic guidance through significant transitions, including the company’s IPO. Moon, known for her insightful leadership, has been with the company for over a decade, shaping its brand and growth philosophy. Jarrett, who joined the board nearly five years ago, brought her public service and business experience to champion Sweetgreen’s values and social responsibility.

Neman praised their dedication to the company’s mission to redefine fast food and build a sustainable food system, emphasizing their alignment with Sweetgreen’s “Win Win Win” approach—prioritizing the customer, company, and community alike.
